On Tuesday night, Jason Jaffray scored four goals to lead Manitoba to a 7-4 win over Chicago at Allstate Arena… Jaffray and Mike Keane each scored twice during the Moose’s five-goal third period… Rookie defenseman Nathan Oystrick had a pair of goals for the Wolves.

Rochester puts its 6-0-0-0 record to the test on Wednesday with a visit to North Division foe Grand Rapids, which is hosting the fourth game on an eight-game homestand… The Amerks have allowed only eight goals in six contests behind the stellar goaltending of Craig Anderson (4-0, 1.23, .959) and rookie Adam Dennis (2-0, 1.50, .969)… The Griffins have earned 13 of a possible 14 points out of Rochester’s last seven visits to Van Andel Arena… Grand Rapids is tied for first in the AHL on the penalty kill (92.3 percent), allowing just three goals in 39 times shorthanded this season… Jimmy Howard has stopped 57 of 60 shots in winning his last two starts in net for the Griffins… Rochester has been outshot 148-69 over its last three games.

The top two teams in the West Division clash in a home-and-home series beginning Thursday, when Iowa drops by the Omaha Civic Auditorium… The Stars are off to a 6-0-0-0 start and are now 22-4-0-2 in their last 28 regular-season outings; the Knights are 5-0-1-0 and have won five straight for the fourth time in their brief history… Iowa forward Junior Lessard is tied for the AHL scoring lead with 12 points in six games, and has scored four of the Stars’ league-high 12 power-play goals in six games… Iowa also has three shorthanded tallies (tied for the most in the AHL), two by Marius Holtet… Rookie Dustin Boyd has 10 points in his first six professional games for Omaha… The Knights’ Curtis McElhinney owns a 1.33 GAA and .946 save percentage while winning each of his three starts on the year.

Kjell Samuelsson makes his debut as head coach when Philadelphia visits Chicago on Thursday in a rematch of the 2005 Calder Cup Finals, won by the Phantoms in a four-game sweep… Samuelsson replaces Craig Berube, who became an assistant with the parent Flyers earlier this week… Philadelphia had won three of four before dropping both ends of a two-game set in Norfolk over the weekend; Chicago is still winless at home this year, giving up 16 goals in three losses… Darren Haydar has picked up where he left off last postseason; the leading scorer in the 2006 playoffs has a point in each of his seven games for the Wolves (7g, 5a)… So does Jason Krog (5g, 6a), Haydar’s former college teammate at New Hampshire… The Phantoms’ current roster includes only four players who skated in the ’05 finals vs. Chicago… Marty Murray had a five-point effort with two goals and three assists in Philadelphia’s 6-5 OT loss to Norfolk last Friday.

— Career AHL shutouts each for Portland’s Michael Leighton, Manchester’s Jason LaBarbera and Hershey’s Frederic Cassivi, tied for the lead among active goaltenders… Hall of Famer Johnny Bower is the league’s all-time leader with 45 career shutouts.
