AHL Quick Hits: Playoff chases continue tonight

On Tuesday night, Yared Hagos recorded a goal and an assist as Iowa moved past Peoria and into fourth place in the West Division with a 2-1 win over the Rivermen… Dieter Kochan made 44 saves as Houston snapped a 15-game road winless streak – and Manitoba’s nine-game home winning streak – with a 3-1 victory over the Moose.

In a possible first-round playoff preview, Milwaukee visits Omaha on Wednesday night to close out their 10-game season series… The Ak-Sar-Ben Knights sit three points up on the third-place Admirals in the West Division, largely thanks to winning eight of the teams’ first nine meetings in 2006-07… Omaha rookie David Van der Gulik has nine points and a plus-12 rating against Milwaukee this season… Carsen Germyn has scored five goals in the Knights’ last four games… Curtis McElhinney is 8-1-1 with a 1.63 GAA in 11 career appearances against the Admirals… Milwaukee has earned points in six straight games and is 4-1-0-2 since leading scorer Rich Peverley was recalled by Nashville… Pekka Rinne, who backstopped the Admirals to the 2006 Calder Cup Finals, has a record of 10-3-4 in his last 17 decisions.

Another 2 vs. 3 matchup pits Hamilton against Rochester at Copps Coliseum on Wednesday… The Bulldogs have won four of six meetings with the Americans this season, most recently a 9-5 rout at Copps on Feb. 11… Corey Locke and Duncan Milroy each recorded four points in that win, which saw Hamilton score seven times in the second period… Matt D’Agostini has scored five goals in his last two games for the Bulldogs, who come in two points ahead of the third-place Amerks in the North Division… Rochester has lost 14 of 20 games since hitting its high-water mark of 33-12-1-0 on Feb. 2… Mark Mancari notched a goal and an assist and Drew Larman ended a 14-game AHL drought with a goal in the Amerks’ 3-1 win over Houston on Sunday.

Desperate for wins, Portland visits Providence on Wednesday night for the teams’ last of 12 meetings on the regular season… The Pirates have lost five in a row to the Bruins by a combined score of 25-9, and sit eight points out of the final playoff spot in the Atlantic Division… Mark Hartigan has 18 points in 17 games since joining Portland on Feb. 10… Joe Motzko has tied an AHL record with 10 unassisted goals this season… Six of Providence’s top nine scorers this season are rookies, led by David Krejci, who also leads the league with nine shootout goals (in 13 attempts)… Pascal Pelletier has seven goals and 13 points in 11 games against the Pirates this season… The Bruins enter the game five points behind Atlantic-leading Manchester.
