This week’s #AHLFanFridays winner is Courtney Sult, a Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins fan since she was five years old.
I’ve been counting down the days until opening night since the final buzzer sounded and we were eliminated from the playoffs. I say "we" because this team, this sport is my life.
I eat, sleep, and breathe Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins hockey. I have been a Pens fan since I was 5 years old – 77 percent of my entire existence. There’s no doubt that it would be 100 percent if the team was in existence longer. The AHL is the best league in the world as you get to watch the fourth liners become key staples, players become NHL stars, rookies breakthrough and shine, and veterans lead with ease.
The 80th anniversary is definitely a milestone, but every year is special in its own way.
