Amerks tie record for home win streak

Thomas Vanek scored a pair of goals and Ryan Miller made 24 saves as Rochester tied a franchise record with its 15th straight home victory, a 3-2 decision over St. John’s on Saturday afternoon.

Vanek, who had a seven-game scoring streak snapped on Thursday, has five points in his last two contests.

Miller won for the AHL-leading 31st time this season, and the Amerks improved to 31-4-0-4 since Nov. 27. They have won every game at home since a 3-2 shootout loss to Hamilton on Dec. 11.

The Amerks’ club record of 15 straight home wins was set during the 1964-65 season. Rochester goes for number 16 next Sunday, Feb. 27, when Syracuse visits the Blue Cross Arena.
