Avalanche add Connolly from Sharks

The Colorado Avalanche, parent club of the AHL’s Lake Erie Monsters, have acquired forwards Jamie McGinn, Mike Connolly and Michael Sgarbossa from the San Jose Sharks in exchange for forwards T.J. Galiardi, Daniel Winnik and a seventh-round selection in the 2013 Entry Draft (previously acquired from Anaheim).

Connolly, 22, has tallied 10 goals and 20 assists for 30 points in 40 AHL games as a rookie with Worcester this season, tied for second on the team in scoring. The Calgary, Alta., native spent the previous three seasons at the University of Minnesota-Duluth, winning a national championship in 2011.

Connolly was originally signed by San Jose as a free agent on April 15, 2011.
