Avalanche, Rangers swap AHL defensemen

The Colorado Avalanche have acquired defenseman Ryan Graves from the New York Rangers in exchange for defenseman Chris Bigras.

Graves, 22, is in his third pro season and has collected four goals and seven assists for 11 points in 57 games with the AHL’s Hartford Wolf Pack this year.

An AHL All-Star as a rookie in 2016, Graves has recorded 21 goals and 41 assists for 62 points in 207 career AHL games, all with Hartford. 

Bigras, 23, has one goal and five assists in 20 AHL games with the San Antonio Rampage this season, as well as one assist in 15 NHL contests with Colorado.

The third-year pro has totaled 12 goals and 36 assists in 109 career AHL contests with San Antonio and Lake Erie, along with one goal and three assists in 46 NHL contests with the Avalanche.
