Barney scores twice as Bears pull even

HERSHEY, Pa. (caldercup.com)Scott Barney scored a pair of power-play goals to lead the Hershey Bears to a 4-2 win over the Hamilton Bulldogs in Game 2 of the 2007 Calder Cup Finals before 10,768 fans at a sold-out Giant Center on Saturday night.

The Bears’ victory snapped the Bulldogs’ seven-game road winning streak and evened the best-of-seven championship at one game apiece. The series shifts to Hamilton for the next three games, beginning Monday.

Jakub Klepis and Chris Bourque also scored for Hershey, which peppered Bulldogs goaltender Carey Price (12-6) with 40 more shots after the rookie’s 46-save shutout the previous night.

Barney moved into a tie for the AHL postseason scoring lead with 10 goals this spring on the strength of his third multiple-goal effort.

Joey Tenute, who suffered what was believed to be a season-ending injury vs. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on May 4, returned to the Bears lineup and recorded an assist.

Zack Stortini and Kyle Chipchura scored for the Bulldogs, who led 1-0 and 2-1 before Hershey pulled away. Dan Jancevski recorded two assists for the second night in a row.

Frederic Cassivi (13-3) turned aside 20 of 22 shots for the win.
