Barons oust Aeros to advance

Dylan Yeo scored the go-ahead goal at 8:51 of the second period and Yann Danis made 11 of his 19 saves in the final frame as Oklahoma City defeated Houston, 5-2, in Game 4 of their Western Conference quarterfinal series at the Cox Convention Center on Tuesday night.

The top-seeded Barons win the series, three games to one, and advance to the second round of the 2012 Calder Cup Playoffs, where they will play either Abbotsford, Milwaukee or San Antonio.

Oklahoma City never trailed in the game, with Mark Arcobello opening the scoring 6:13 into the game and Josh Green restoring a one-goal lead at 45 seconds of the second period. Philippe Cornet added an insurance marker in the third and Green potted an empty-net goal to cap the scoring.

The Barons dominated the Aeros throughout the series; their only loss was a 1-0 decision in Game 3. Oklahoma City outscored Houston, 14-4, and outshot the Aeros, 143-76. Including the regular season, the Barons were 10-1-0-1 vs. Houston for the year.

Nate Prosser and Kris Foucault scored for the Aeros, who got 22 saves from Mike Brodeur.
