A five-goal third period lifted the host Oklahoma City Barons to a 7-3 win over the top-seeded Texas Stars on Wednesday night, taking a 3-1 series lead in the best-of-seven Western Conference semifinal.
The Barons are one win away from a second consecutive trip to the conference finals. Game 5 is Thursday night.
Texas responded just over five minutes later as Brett Ritchie tied the game with his second goal of the playoffs. Colton Sceviour then cashed in on a 4-on-3 power play to give the Stars a 2-1 lead at 13:13.
As his roughing penalty expired, Mark Arcobello came out of the penalty box and took a feed from Philippe Cornet, skated in alone on Cristopher Nilstorp and snapped a shot home to make it 2-2 at 14:33.
Texas regained the lead at 18:15 with Nilstorp on the bench for an extra attacker in a delayed-penalty situation. Joe Morrow scored his second goal of the playoffs to put the Stars ahead 3-2.
Antti Tyrvainen started the Oklahoma City comeback at 6:52 of the third period, knocking in a rebound. The Barons then scored four times in the final 5:36 of regulation to salt the game away.
Taylor Fedun scored the go-ahead goal at 14:24 on a shot from the point, and Arcobello netted his second goal of the game and eighth of the postseason off a 2-on-1 rush at 18:00. With Nilstorp on the bench for a sixth attacker, Tyrvainen found the empty net with 1:24 to play to make it 6-3, and former Stars defenseman Garrett Stafford finished the scoring with a power-play goal with 15 seconds remaining.
Yann Danis (6-3) made 26 saves in winning for the fifth time in his last six starts. Nilstorp (4-4) allowed six goals on 45 shots in the loss.
