Barons roll past Aeros in Game 1

Five different Barons scored goals and Yann Danis stopped all 14 shots he faced as No. 1 seed Oklahoma City opened a best-of-five, first-round Calder Cup playoff series with a 5-0 win over the Houston Aeros on Thursday at Toyota Center.

Game 2 is Friday (7:35 CT, AHL Live) in Houston against the No. 8 seeded Aeros.

The Barons scored the only goal of the first period and out-shot the Aeros 19-3 in the first 20 minutes and 48-14 for the game.

Tyler Pitlick tallied the first goal, putting in a rebound from a steep angle with assists by linemates Hunter Tremblay and Mark Arcobello.

Teemu Hartikainen built the lead to 2-0 with a power play goal on a second rebound at 14:32 of the second period, the first of three goals in a 2:11 span that drove Hackett from the game.

Hunter Tremblay‘s tip of a Ryan Keller shot rolled home to put the Barons up 3-0 at 15:53. Oklahoma City wrapped up a three-goal second period on a goal from the slot by Tanner House at 16:43 after an Antti Tyrvainen pass caromed into the slot off the goal frame.

Hackett allowed four goals on 37 shots to take the loss. He was replaced by Mike Brodeur, who allowed one goal on 11 shots.

Oklahoma City capped the scoring with a breakaway goal by Anton Lander at 15:59 of the third.
