Bears get Koalska from Bridgeport

The Hershey Bears announced today that center Matt Koalska has been reassigned to the club from the Bridgeport Sound Tigers by the National Hockey League’s New York Islanders.

Koalska, 26, was scoreless in three games with Bridgeport this season. He comes to Hershey after scoring 19 goals and adding 30 assists for 49 points in 75 games in 2005-06 for the Sound Tigers. As a rookie in 2004-05, Koalska recorded seven goals and eight assists in 60 contests.

A native of St. Paul, Minn., Koalska was a member of two NCAA championship teams at the University of Minnesota (2002, 2003). He made his NHL debut with the Islanders last season, appearing in three games.
