Belleville signs Kelly to tryout

The Belleville Senators have signed veteran forward Chris Kelly to a professional tryout agreement.

Kelly joins Belleville having played 833 games in the National Hockey League with Ottawa and Boston. Kelly has collected 123 goals and 166 assists in the NHL, and was a member of the Bruins’ 2011 Stanley Cup championship team.

The 37-year-old Kelly last played in the AHL during the 2004-05 season, when he racked up 24 goals and 36 assists in 77 games with the Binghamton Senators. In 239 AHL games over four seasons with Binghamton and Grand Rapids, Kelly has 59 goals and 72 assists for 131 points.

Kelly was originally a third-round pick by Ottawa in the 1999 NHL Draft. The Toronto native will be available for Belleville’s game on Saturday against the Toronto Marlies at the Air Canada Centre.
