Bergeron battling flu

Providence Bruins forward Patrice Bergeron sat out Sunday evening’s AHL All-Star Skills Competition with a flu bug.

Bergeron, at 19 the youngest player in the AHL this season, has recorded 45 points in 42 games for Providence this season after taking the NHL by storm as a rookie in 2003-04.

He was named the MVP of the 2005 World Junior Championships after leading Canada to a gold medal.

Bergeron’s status for Monday’s All-Star Game is still unknown.
