Birthday gift for Penguins’ Fleury

Marc-Andre Fleury celebrated his 21st birthday on Monday with another recall to the Pittsburgh Penguins, and the AHL’s leading netminder this season is expected to get the start tonight when the Pens host Buffalo.

Fleury, the first overall pick in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, is 10-2-0 with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton this season, helping the Penguins to a league-best record of 18-0-2-0. Fleury leads the league with his 1.57 goals-against average and .939 save percentage.

He was the Koho/AHL Goaltender of the Month for October.

A native of Sorel, Que., Fleury is 1-1-1 in four NHL appearances this season, including a 45-save performance in a 3-2 overtime win over Philadelphia on Nov. 16.

Sebastien Caron is 5-3-3 for Pittsburgh this season, while Jocelyn Thibault has struggled to a 1-7-2 mark.
