Blackhawks acquire All-Star Holmqvist

The Chicago Blackhawks on Saturday acquired 2005 AHL All-Star forward Michael Holmqvist from the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim in exchange for forward Travis Moen.

Holmqvist, 26, recorded 14 goals and 32 assists for 46 points in 79 games for Cincinnati (AHL) in 2004-05. He represented the Mighty Ducks at the 2005 Dodge AHL All-Star Classic in Manchester.

According to ChicagoBlackhawks.com, the Hawks expect Holmqvist to compete for the fourth-line center job in training camp.

Moen, a 6-foot-2, 210-pound wing, played 79 games with Norfolk last season, establishing career highs with eight goals, 12 assists and 20 points to go along with 187 penalty minutes.

Moen, 23, spent the entire 2003-04 season in the NHL with Chicago.
