Blackhawks agree to terms with Bois on one-year deal

The Chicago Blackhawks, parent club of the AHL’s Rockford IceHogs, have signed right wing Danny Bois to a one-year contract.

Bois, 26, ranked third on the American Hockey League’s Binghamton Senators with 149 penalty minutes in 2008-09 while collecting 12 goals and 24 points in 66 regular-season games. The Thunder Bay, Ont., native appeared in one National Hockey League contest with the Ottawa Senators in 2006-07, accruing seven penalty minutes.

The Colorado Avalanche’s second choice, 97th overall, in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft, Bois has racked up 968 penalty minutes and 113 points (54G, 59A) in 336 career AHL regular-season games spanning parts of five seasons (2004-09).

He registered professional career highs in goals (18), assists (17), points (35) and games played (79) in 2005-06 with Binghamton.

Prior to turning pro, Bois skated for four seasons with the Ontario Hockey League’s London Knights, registering 911 penalty minutes and 139 points (70G, 39A) in 236 regular-season games from 2000 to 2004. He also chipped in 25 points (12G, 13A) and 133 penalty minutes in 37 postseason tilts with London.
