The Chicago Blackhawks have acquired center Chris DiDomenico from the Ottawa Senators in exchange for defenseman Ville Pokka.

DiDomenico will report to the American Hockey League’s Rockford IceHogs; Pokka will be assigned to Ottawa’s AHL affiliate, the Belleville Senators.

DiDomenico, 28, has recorded six goals and nine assists for 15 points in 28 AHL games between Belleville and Syracuse this season, along with six goals and four assists for 10 points in 24 NHL games with Ottawa.

Originally drafted by the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2007, DiDomenico made his pro debut with Rockford during the 2010-11 and has totaled eight goals and 24 assists for 32 points in 102 career AHL contests. He made his NHL debut with the Senators last season, and shows 10 points in 27 NHL games with Ottawa.

Pokka, 23, has amassed four goals and 18 assists for 22 points in 46 games with the IceHogs this season.

A second-round draft pick by the New York Islanders in 2012, Pokka has spent his entire four-year North American career in Rockford, totaling 28 goals and 99 assists for 127 points in 266 games. He leaves the IceHogs ranked first all-time among defensemen in games played, second in goals, third in points and fourth in assists.
