Blackhawks sign forwards Philp, Seney

The Chicago Blackhawks have signed forwards Luke Philp and Brett Seney to one-year, two-way contracts.

Philp joins the Blackhawks following three seasons in the Calgary Flames organization. In 2021-22, he set career highs with 21 goals, 23 assists, 44 points and a plus-24 rating in 66 games with the AHL’s Stockton Heat. Philp added one goal and four assists in 10 postseason games as Stockton reached the Western Conference Finals.

In 148 career AHL games, Philp has totaled 48 goals and 44 assists for 92 points.

Seney played 62 games with the AHL’s Toronto Marlies in 2021-22, leading the team with a career-best 59 points (17 goals, 42 assists). He also skated in two NHL games with the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Seney enters his fifth pro season having played 191 games in the AHL with Toronto and Binghamton, registering 47 goals and 93 assists for 140 points.

A sixth-round choice by New Jersey in the 2015 NHL Draft, Seney has five goals and eight assists in 55 career NHL games with the Devils and Maple Leafs.
