Blues acquire Hensick; Talbot to Avs

The St. Louis Blues, parent club of the AHL’s Peoria Rivermen, announced on Thursday that they have acquired forward T.J. Hensick from the Colorado Avalanche, parent club of the AHL’s Lake Erie Monsters, in exchange for forward Julian Talbot.

Hensick, 24, played in 58 games last season for Lake Erie, scoring 20 goals and adding 50 assists for 70 points. Hensick represented the Monsters at the 2010 AHL All-Star Classic, his second All-Star berth in three seasons. He also played seven games for Colorado, recording one goal and two assists.

The 5-foot-10, 190-pound native of Howell, Mich., was originally drafted by Colorado in the third round (88th overall) of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. In 120 career AHL games with Lake Erie, Hensick has 39 goals and 92 assists for 131 points. He also has 11 goals and 24 assists for 35 points in 99 NHL games with Colorado.

Talbot, 25, played in 76 games in 2009-10 for Peoria and recorded 32 points (17g, 15a). He has spent the last three seasons in Peoria after making his AHL debut with Providence in 2006-07.

Talbot has appeared in 226 career AHL contests, registering 62 goals and 66 assists for 128 points.
