Blues return Allen to Peoria

The St. Louis Blues announced Saturday that the club has assigned goaltender Jake Allen to the club’s American Hockey League affiliate, Peoria Rivermen today.

Allen, 22, has posted an 8-3-0 record with a 2.45 goals-against average and .906 save percentage over his 12 games with the Blues. He made his first NHL start on Feb. 13 and earned his first NHL victory that same night. Allen registered his first career NHL shutout with 28 saves against Phoenix on Mar. 14. He made his NHL regular-season debut on Feb. 5 against Nashville in relief of Brian Elliott.

Allen has appeared in 35 games for the Rivermen this season posting a 13-19-2 record including a 2.89 GAA, .904 save percentage and two shutouts.

The 6-foot-2, 200-pound goaltender set Rivermen records for wins (24), minutes played (2,805), saves (1,306) and shutouts (6) during the 2010-11 season. The Fredericton, N.B., native was drafted by the Blues in the second round (34th overall) of the 2008 Entry Draft.
