Boston signs four

The Boston Bruins, parent club of the AHL’s Providence Bruins, have signed goaltender Chad Johnson to a one-year contract, forward Bobby Robins to a two-year, two-way contract, and forward Nick Johnson and defenseman Mike Moore to one-year, two-way contracts.

Chad Johnson was 16-15-1 in 34 AHL appearances for Portland in 2012-13, and was 2-0-2 with a 1.21 GAA and a .954 save percentage in four NHL appearances for Phoenix.

Johnson has appeared in 170 AHL games with Hartford/Connecticut and Portland, compiling a 74-70-12 record with eight shutouts. In 10 career NHL games, Johnson is 3-2-3 (1.97, .929).

The 6-foot-3, 195-pound native of Calgary, Alta., was originally drafted by Pittsburgh in 2006.

Robins has skated the past two seasons with the Providence Bruins and appeared in 107 games, registering six goals and 17 assists for 23 points. In 2012-13, the forward racked up an AHL-high 316 penalty minutes. In 12 playoff games with Providence this year, Robins earned a goal and an assist with 69 penalty minutes, which led the league.

The 31-year-old Robins has skated in 212 AHL games in his career, recording 17 goals and 28 assists while accruing 610 penalty minutes.

Nick Johnson skated in 14 games with Portland in 2012-13, notching three goals and six assists for nine points. In 17 games in 2012-13 for Phoenix, Johnson recorded four goals and two assists for six points.

The 27-year-old forward has amassed 14 goals and 23 assists for 37 points in 104 career NHL games, as well as 53 goals and 70 assists for 123 points in 183 AHL games.

The 6-foot-1, 183-pound native of Calgary, Alta., was a third-round draft pick by Pittsburgh in 2004.

Moore joins the Bruins organization after spending the 2012-13 season in the Nashville system, playing in 50 games for Milwaukee Admirals and notching five goals and 11 assists for 16 points. Moore has racked up 19 goals and 69 assists for 88 points, along with a plus-30 rating, in 303 career AHL games with Milwaukee and Worcester.

The Calgary, Alta., native has one goal in six career NHL contests, coming with San Jose in 2010-11.
