Boston signs Jeremy Smith

The Boston Bruins, parent club of the AHL’s Providence Bruins, have signed goaltender Jeremy Smith to a one-year, two-way contract.

The 25-year-old Smith spent the 2013-14 season with Columbus’s AHL affiliate, the Springfield Falcons, where he earned a 21-14-3 record while posting a 2.78 goals-against average and an .898 save percentage.

Smith has an AHL career record of 87-60-10 in 166 appearances with Springfield and Milwaukee, with a 2.48 GAA, a .912 save percentage and nine shutouts.

The Dearborn, Mich., native was drafted by Nashville in the second round (54th overall) of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.
