The Philadelphia Flyers announced today that they have signed defenseman T.J. Brennan to a multi-year contract extension.

Brennan originally signed with the Flyers on July 5, 2016. In 48 games with the AHL’s Lehigh Valley Phantoms this season, Brennan has recorded 12 goals and 27 assists for 39 points, helping the club to first place in the Atlantic Division.

The only defenseman in AHL history with eight career 10-goal seasons, Brennan ranks second all-time among league blueliners with 146 goals and seventh with 418 points in 567 regular-season games with Lehigh Valley, Toronto, Rockford, Rochester and Portland.

Brennan has won the Eddie Shore Award as the AHL’s outstanding defenseman twice (2013-14, 2015-16), has been voted a First Team AHL All-Star three times (2013-14, 2015-16, 2016-17) and has participated in five AHL All-Star Classics. He has also appeared in 50 Calder Cup Playoff contests, totaling 17 goals and 21 assists for 38 points.

Originally a second-round pick by Buffalo in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, Brennan has recorded five goals and eight assists for 13 points in 53 career NHL games with Buffalo, Florida and Toronto.

Brennan grew up and played youth hockey in the Philadelphia area as a member of the Philadelphia Little Flyers, and played in the Flyers Cup tournament in 2005 with Moorestown High School in New Jersey.
