Brent nets hat trick as IceHogs cruise past Milwaukee


ROCKFORD 4, MILWAUKEE 1

Rockford captain Tim Brent netted a hat trick and added an assist as the IceHogs took a 4-1 road win over Milwaukee on Thursday at the Bradley Center. Brent has five goals and seven points in his last two games for second-place Rockford, which is now 10 points back of the Admirals in the West Division.

Brent began the game’s scoring with a shorthanded goal 3:45 after the opening face-off, but Admirals forward Hugh Jessiman responded with a power play goal at the 18:44 mark.

AHL All-Star Petri Kontiola scored on the power play 9:32 into the middle frame to put the IceHogs back on top. Brent assisted on that goal and then netted another power play marker at 14:27, making it a 3-1 game.

Brent completed the hat trick with an unassisted, even-strength tally 12:53 into the third period for his 18th goal of the campaign.

IceHogs goaltender Corey Crawford earned the victory with 21 saves on 22 shots.

The loss sent the Admirals to their first three-game winless skid (0-1-1-1) since a season-high four-game slide (0-3-0-1) from Oct. 13-22.


HOUSTON 4, IOWA 3
John Lammers snapped a 3-3 tie with a power play goal at 15:10 of the third period, snapping a 3-3 tie and sending Houston to a 4-3 win over visiting Iowa on Thursday at the Toyota Center.

Lammers and Krys Kolanos each posted a goal and an assist for the Aeros, who also received markers from Jesse Schultz and rookie Matt Beaudoin.

Corey Locke chipped in two assists, and goaltender Nolan Schaefer earned the win with 18 saves on 21 shots. The Aeros have set a season high with their fifth consecutive victory.

Matt Beleskey, Eric Boguniecki, and Drew Miller all scored for the Chops, whose winless skid reached six games (0-4-1-1).
