Bruins’ Robinson nets weekly award

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. … The American Hockey League announced today that Providence Bruins center Nathan Robinson has been named the CCM Vector/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending December 11, 2005. In three games, Robinson recorded four goals and two assists for six points, along with a plus-5 rating for the Bruins.

Robinson scored a goal in Providence’s 3-2 loss to Lowell on Friday night, then came back on Saturday and assisted on the game-winning score as the Bruins beat Albany, 2-1. On Sunday against Springfield, Robinson scored three times in a span of 4:06 during the second period – his second career hat trick – and added an assist as the Bruins posted a 6-2 win over the Falcons.

In recognition of his achievement, Robinson will be presented with an etched crystal award prior to an upcoming Bruins home game.

The 23-year-old Robinson has recorded nine goals and seven assists in 23 games for Providence this season, his first in the Bruins organization after signing with Boston on Aug. 15, 2005. An AHL All-Star in 2004, Robinson has tallied 50 goals and 77 assists for 127 points in 224 career AHL contests with Providence, Syracuse and Grand Rapids. The native of Scarborough, Ont., made his National Hockey League debut with Detroit during the 2003-04 season, skating in five games.
