Bruins score four in 2:10, beat Sharks

A four-goal eruption in the second period propelled Providence to a 6-2 victory over Worcester on Sunday afternoon and a sweep of the teams’ weekend home-and-home series.

The game marked the sixth consecutive year in which the Bruins hosted a contest on Super Bowl Sunday afternoon. Providence is 5-1-0-0 in those games, including three straight wins over the Sharks.

With the game tied at 2-2, John Lammers (6:03), Jordan Knackstedt (6:47), Drew Larman (7:01) and Mikko Lehtonen (8:13) scored in a span of two minutes, 10 seconds to send the Bruins to their first win in four tries on home ice against Worcester this season.

Lehtonen (pictured) finished the day with a goal and two assists, and now has nine points (5-4-9) in his last five games. Andy Wozniewski and Matt Marquardt also scored for the Bruins and Kevin Regan made 27 saves for his first home win since Feb. 22, 2009.

Matt Jones and Benn Ferriero scored for the Sharks, who have dropped two straight after a 7-0-1-0 streak.
