Bruins swing deadline deals

The Boston Bruins have acquired forward Brian Rolston and defenseman Mike Mottau from the New York Islanders, parent club of the AHL’s Bridgeport Sound Tigers, in exchange for forward Yannick Riendeau and defenseman Marc Cantin.

The Bruins have also acquired defenseman Greg Zanon from the Minnesota Wild, parent club of the AHL’s Houston Aeros, in exchange for defenseman Steven Kampfer.

Riendeau, 23, was signed by the Bruins as a free agent on April 2, 2009. He has three goals and three assists for six points in 18 AHL games with Providence this season. He has 4-7-11 in 46 career AHL contests over parts of three pro campaigns.

Cantin, 21, was signed by the Bruins as a free agent on March 23, 2011. He is scoreless in 19 games for Providence as a rookie this season, and has one goal and five assists in 16 games with Reading (ECHL).

Kampfer, 23, was originally drafted by Anaheim in the fourth round in 2007. He has one goal and four assists in 12 games with Providence this season, as well as two assists in 10 contests with Boston. The second-year pro has totaled 5-7-12 in 48 NHL games and 5-19-24 in 40 AHL games for his career.
