Peter Budaj made 28 saves to lead Hershey to a 4-1 victory over Hartford on Wednesday night, ending the Wolf Pack’s season-opening winning streak at nine games.
Marek Svatos and Mathieu Darche recorded a goal and an assist each, while Eric Perrin and Dennis Bonvie added two assists apiece. Hershey improved to 4-6-1-0 on the season, winning in regulation for just the second time this season.
Chris Bala and Andre Savard also scored for the Bears.
Hartford, which had not allowed more than two goals in a game all year, gave up three in the first period. Jason LaBarbera was lifted after making seven saves in 20 minutes of work.
ROCHESTER 1, HAMILTON 0
Chris Taylor‘s goal 99 seconds into the game would prove to be all the offense on the night as Rochester held on for a 1-0 win over Hamilton at the Blue Cross Arena.
Ryan Miller, who sparkled in net during the Amerks’ four-game sweep of the Bulldogs in last year’s playoffs, made 35 saves for his first shutout of the season. It was the fourth win in a row for Rochester.
Dan Ellis made 26 stops for Hamilton but saw his record drop to 0-6-0.
NORFOLK 4, BINGHAMTON 2
Marty Wilford scored a key shorthanded goal in the third period and added two assists on the night as Norfolk posted a 4-2 win at Binghamton.
It was the fifth straight loss for the Senators (0-3-1-1).
Mikhail Yakubov and Anton Babchuk registered a goal and an assist each as the Admirals moved into first place in the East Division.
