Canucks acquire Baertschi from Flames

The Vancouver Canucks, parent club of the AHL’s Utica Comets, have acquired forward Sven Baertschi from the Calgary Flames in exchange for Vancouver’s second-round pick in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.

Baertschi, 22, has played 15 games with Calgary this season, recording four assists and six penalty minutes. He has also appeared in 36 AHL games with the Adirondack Flames, collecting eight goals and 17 assists for 25 points.

The Bern, Switzerland, native has appeared in 66 career NHL games with Calgary, collecting 28 points (eight goals, 20 assists). In 109 career AHL games with Adirondack and Abbotsford, Baertschi has recorded 31 goals and 49 assists for 80 points.

Baertschi played two junior seasons at Portland (WHL), where current Utica head coach Travis Green was on the coaching staff. The 5-foot-11, 190-pound forward was originally by selected by Calgary in the first round (13th overall) in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.
