Canucks acquire Clendening from Chicago

The Vancouver Canucks, parent club of the AHL’s Utica Comets, acquired defenseman Adam Clendening from the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for Gustav Forsling.

Clendening, 22, has recorded one goal and 12 assists for 13 points in 38 AHL games with Rockford this season. He also collected one goal and one assist in four games with the Blackhawks after making his NHL debut on Nov. 20, 2014.

Clendening was a Second Team AHL All-Star as a rookie in 2012-13 and earned a nod as a First Team AHL All-Star in 2013-14. In 185 career AHL games, he has 22 goals and 96 assists for 118 points.

The Niagara Falls, N.Y., native was originally selected by Chicago in the second round, 36th overall, in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.

Forsling, 18, was a fifth-round pick by Vancouver in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft. He is currently playing for Linkoping in the Swedish Hockey League.
