Capitals sign Pasquale

The Washington Capitals, parent club of the AHL’s Hershey Bears, announced today that they have signed goaltender Eddie Pasquale to a one-year contract.

Playing in 31 regular-season games for the AHL’s St. John’s IceCaps in 2013-14, the 23-year-old Pasquale set a career high in save percentage (.920), which ranked sixth in the AHL, while also posting a record of 17-13-1. His goals-against average of 2.43 ranked 12th among American Hockey League goaltenders.

The 6-foot-3, 215-pound native of Toronto, Ont., has played the last three seasons in St. John’s, accumulating a record of 55-48-6 and nine shutouts. Pasquale also played 24 games of the 2010-11 season with the Chicago Wolves, giving him a cumulative AHL mark of 66-59-7, 10 shutouts, a 2.63 GAA and a save percentage of .910. He was named to the AHL All-Rookie Team in 2011-12.

Pasquale was acquired by Washington on June 28 from the Winnipeg Jets, and was originally selected by the Atlanta Thrashers in the fourth round (117th overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.
