Caps ink Camper, Collins, Moore, Ness

The Washington Capitals, parent club of the AHL’s Hershey Bears, have signed forwards Carter Camper and Sean Collins and defensemen Mike Moore and Aaron Ness to one-year, two-way contracts.

Camper, 26, recorded 15 goals and 37 assists for 52 points in 75 AHL games with Binghamton in 2014-15. The Cleveland, Ohio, native has registered 200 points (56 goals, 144 assists) in 264 career AHL contests, and was an AHL All-Star in 2012.

Camper has notched one goal in three career NHL games, with Boston during the 2011-12 season.

Collins, 26, tallied 17 goals and 19 assists for 36 points in 64 games with Springfield (AHL) last season, and has amassed 45 goals and 68 assists for 113 points in 203 career AHL contests.

A native of Saskatoon, Sask., Collins also tallied two assists in eight NHL games with Columbus in 2014-15, and has three assists in 19 career NHL matches.

Moore, 30, spent last season as an alternate captain with Hershey and recorded three goals and 11 assists in 41 games for the Bears. The veteran blueliner has appeared in 419 career AHL games, notching 29 goals and 94 assists for 123 points.

Moore, a four-time winner of his team’s AHL Man of the Year award for community contributions, has one goal in six career NHL games, all with San Jose.

Ness, 25, picked up eight goals and 37 assists for 45 points in 74 AHL games as captain of the Bridgeport Sound Tigers last season, setting career highs in each category and earning a spot in the 2015 AHL All-Star Classic.

Ness, a native of Roseau, Minn., has tallied 23 goals and 100 assists for 123 points in 280 career AHL games, along with one goal and two assists in 29 career NHL games, all with the New York Islanders.
