Carson to Heat for conditioning

The Calgary Flames announced today that defenseman Brett Carson has been sent to the Abbotsford Heat on a conditioning assignment.

Carson joined the Flames last season after being claimed on waivers from Carolina and played six games with Calgary during the remainder of the season. In 38 AHL games with Charlotte last season, he recorded four goals and 16 assists for 20 points.

Carson was injured during off-season training and has yet to play a game this season. He has 12 points (2g, 10a) in 78 career NHL games, and has totaled 17 goals and 91 assists for 108 points in 261 AHL contests.

Carson was a fourth-round draft pick by Carolina in 2004.
