Checkers sign defenseman Didier

The Charlotte Checkers announced on Monday that they have signed defenseman Josiah Didier to a two-way AHL contract.

The 24-year-old Didier was selected by the Montreal Canadiens in the fourth round of the 2011 NHL Draft and has totaled two goals and 12 assists in 100 career AHL games with Hamilton and St. John’s.

Last season, Didier recorded two goals and six assists with a plus-3 rating in 38 games with the IceCaps, scoring his first career AHL goal on Feb. 5, 2017, at Hershey.

A native of Littleton, Colo., Didier played four seasons at the University of Denver and won a national championship in 2014.
