Colorado re-signs Dupuis, adds Skinner

dupuis09a_200.jpgThe Colorado Avalanche, parent club of the AHL’s Lake Erie Monsters, announced Wednesday that they have signed forward Philippe Dupuis and defenseman Brett Skinner.

Dupuis, 24, was recalled from Lake Erie on two separate occasions during the 2008-09 season. The 6-foot, 196-pound center skated in eight games for the Avalanche, making his NHL debut on Dec. 12 vs. Chicago.

A native of Laval, Que., Dupuis led Lake Erie in points (46) and assists (29) while appearing in 67 games last season.

In 164 career AHL games with Lake Erie and Syracuse, Dupuis has notched 40 goals and 47 assists.

Skinner, 26, also made his NHL debut during the 2008-09 campaign, appearing in 11 games for the New York Islanders.

skinnerThe Brandon, Man., native spent the majority of the season in the American Hockey League, totaling 35 points (4g, 31a) in 61 games with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers and Chicago Wolves.

An AHL All-Star in 2008, Skinner has totaled 21 goals and 110 assists for 131 points in 256 career AHL games with six clubs.

The 6-foot-1, 183-pound blueliner played three seasons at the University of Denver, where he was a member of the school’s back-to-back national championship teams in 2004 and 2005.
