Comets’ inaugural home opener sold out

The Utica Comets announced Monday that the team’s inaugural home opener on Oct. 23 against the Albany Devils is sold out.

Individual tickets to all 38 Comets home games went on sale Saturday morning at 10 a.m. at the Utica Memorial Auditorium. Fans lined up for their chance to buy tickets as early as 3:30 a.m.

"It’s great to see the community rally behind the Comets like they have." said Comets president Robert Esche. "Because of fans like these, October 23 is going to be a historic night for the Mohawk Valley."

For fans who were not able to purchase a ticket to the home opener, as part of the Opening Night Fan Fest, Galaxy Communications and the Utica Comets will provide a free watch party right behind the Aud on Whitesboro Street. Fans will be able to watch the game for free on a giant TV screen outdoors. Live music will be provided and food and beer will be available for purchase. The Fan Fest begins at 4 p.m., and the watch party begins at 6:45 p.m.

Tickets to the Comets’ 37 other home games are on sale now through the Aud’s box office or on Ticketmaster.com.
