Coyotes assign O’Sullivan to Portland

Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have assigned forward Patrick O’Sullivan to the Portland Pirates, the Coyotes’ American Hockey League affiliate.

The 5-foot-11, 189 pound O’Sullivan has appeared in 17 games with Phoenix this season, registering two goals and one assist. Last season, the 26-year-old native of Winston-Salem, N.C., appeared in 31 games with Carolina and Minnesota, recording two goals and six assists.

In 2010-11, O’Sullivan helped lead the Houston Aeros (AHL) to the Calder Cup Final, recording a team-high 4-14-18 in 24 playoff games. In 36 regular season games with Houston, he collected 19-29-48.

An AHL All-Star and the league’s rookie of the year in 2005-06 when he posted 47 goals and 93 points, O’Sullivan has totaled 180 points (84-96-180) in 155 career AHL contests with Houston and Manchester.

O’Sullivan was originally drafted by the Minnesota Wild in the second round (56th overall) in the 2003 Entry Draft.
