Coyotes claim Lehoux from Kings

The Phoenix Coyotes have claimed center Yanick Lehoux off waivers from the Los Angeles Kings.

The 6-foot-1, 200-pound forward has been playing in the Swiss National League this season with Geneve-Servette and Basel. In 11 games, Lehoux tallied five goals and four assists for nine points.

Last season, Lehoux collected an incredible 23 goals, 31 assists and 54 points in only 38 games with the Manchester Monarchs and earning a trip to the 2005 AHL All-Star Classic before suffering a season-ending injury. Lehoux still ranked tied for fourth on the team in goals, fifth in points and sixth in assists. At the time of his injury, he was leading the entire AHL in both goals and points.

The 23-year-old native of Montreal was originally drafted by Los Angeles in the third round (86th overall) of the 2000 NHL Entry Draft. Lehoux, who has yet to play an NHL game in his career, will join his new team in Minnesota, where the Coyotes will play the Wild on Tuesday.
