Coyotes ink defenseman Grant

The Arizona Coyotes, parent club of the AHL’s Springfield Falcons, have signed defenseman Alex Grant to a one-year, two-way contract.

The 26-year-old Grant registered six goals and 27 assists for 33 points in 58 games with the Binghamton Senators (AHL) last season.

Grant has appeared in 254 career AHL contests with Binghamton, Norfolk and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, totaling 32 goals and 100 assists for 132 points. He has added four goals and seven assists for 11 points in 31 Calder Cup Playoff games.

A 6-foot-4, 205-pound native of Antigonish, N.S., Grant has appeared in two career NHL games with Anaheim, scoring two goals. He was originally drafted by Pittsburgh in the fourth round (118th overall) in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.
