Cup captain Keller signs with Oilers

General manager Steve Tambellini announced today the Edmonton Oilers, parent club of the AHL’s Oklahoma City Barons, have agreed to terms with free agent forward Ryan Keller on a one-year contract.

Keller, 27, captained the Binghamton Senators to the Calder Cup championship in 2010-11, tallying 25 points (10g, 15a) in 23 playoff games and scoring the winning goal in the Cup-clinching Game 6 at Houston on June 7. He collected 51 points in the regular season, with 32 goals and 19 assists in 71 games for the Senators.

In 213 career AHL games with Binghamton, Syracuse and Grand Rapids, Keller has recorded 81 goals and 70 assists for 151 points, including 119 points in 143 games with the Senators over the past two seasons.

The native of Saskatoon, Sask., has also appeared in six career NHL games, all with Ottawa during the 2009-10 campaign.
