Deadline Day: Blues, Pens swap AHL defensemen

The St. Louis Blues, parent club of the AHL’s Peoria Rivermen, announced today the club has acquired defenseman Danny Richmond from the Pittsburgh Penguins, parent club of the AHL’s Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, in exchange for defenseman Andy Wozniewski.

Richmond, 24, has played in 55 games this season with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, recording 17 points (three goals, 14 assists) and 108 penalty minutes. Last season, the 6-0, 194-pound defenseman appeared in 40 games with the AHL’s Rockford IceHogs, registering 14 points (two goals, 12 assists) and 156 penalty minutes. Richmond has played in 49 National Hockey League games, notching three assists and 75 penalty minutes.

The Chicago native was originally drafted by Carolina in the 2nd round, 31st overall in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. Richmond will report to Peoria.

Wozniewski, 28, has recorded one goal and 16 assists in 56 games for Peoria this season. A native of Buffalo Grove, Ill., Wozniewski has played 77 career NHL games with St. Louis and Toronto, recording two goals and 10 assists.

Wozniewski has been assigned to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.
