DesRochers, Rampage blank Grizzlies

Greg Jacina scored twice and Patrick DesRochers made 24 saves as San Antonio rolled to a 5-0 win over Utah at the SBC Center in Thursday’s lone AHL action.

The victory ended a three-game winless slide for the Rampage.

In three games against Utah this season, DesRochers is now 3-0-0 with a 0.33 goals-against average, a .987 save percentage and two shutouts, allowing one goal in nine periods of work.

Stephen Weiss opened the scoring at the 13:29 mark of the first period, redirecting a Juraj Kolnik pass behind Grizzlies goaltender David LeNeveu.

Filip Novak made it 2-0 in the second period, scoring his first goal in more than 21 months. Novak, a 2003 AHL All-Rookie defenseman, missed the entire 2003-04 season due to injury.

Jacina padded the Rampage lead by scoring twice in a 36-second span early in the third. Lou Dickenson added his first career AHL goal for the 5-0 final.

The teams meet again Friday night in San Antonio.
