Devils sign Street, Tennyson, Mermis

The New Jersey Devils have signed forward Ben Street and defensemen Matt Tennyson and Dakota Mermis to contracts.

Street, 32, signed a one-year, two-way contract. He notched nine goals and 17 assists for 26 points in 32 regular-season games along with two goals and nine assists for 11 points in 16 Calder Cup Playoff games with the AHL’s San Diego Gulls in 2018-19.

Street also had three goals and two assists in 21 NHL games with Anaheim.

A Calder Cup champion with Grand Rapids in 2017, Street has appeared in 460 regular-season games in his AHL career, notching 153 goals and 230 assists for 383 points. He also has 15 goals and 30 assists in 64 postseason games.

In 56 career NHL contests with Anaheim, Detroit, Colorado and Calgary, Street has notched three goals and five assists.

Tennyson, 29, signed a two-year, two-way contract. He recorded four goals and 17 assists for 21 points in 47 AHL games with the Rochester Americans in 2018-19, and was scoreless in four NHL games with Buffalo.

Tennyson has skated in 275 AHL games with Rochester, Charlotte, San Jose and Worcester, amassing 27 goals and 77 assists for 104 points.

The seven-year pro also has three goals and 17 assists in 124 NHL games with Buffalo, Carolina and San Jose.

Mermis, 25, signed a one-year, two-way contract after spending the past four seasons with the Arizona Coyotes organization. In 2018-19, Mermis posted career highs with 21 assists and 24 points in 62 games with the AHL’s Tucson Roadrunners.

Mermis has skated in 251 AHL games with Tucson and Springfield, posting 10 goals and 58 assists for 68 points. He is also scoreless in 10 career NHL contests with the Coyotes.
