SERIES NOTEBOOK:
Despite a third consecutive 90-point season, Manchester is still looking for its first playoff series win… Monarchs Steve Kelly and Bryan Muir reached the Calder Cup Final as teammates in Hamilton in 1997… Kelly went on to win a Stanley Cup with New Jersey in 2000; Muir followed suit with Colorado in 2001… Manchester’s Pavel Rosa won the AHL scoring title with 88 points in the regular season… IceCats forward Mike Glumac placed second among AHL rookies with 52 points… The IceCats are in the Calder Cup Playoffs for the ninth straight season, the second-longest active streak after Rochester (15)… Worcester was one of two teams (Cleveland) to record more road wins than home wins in ’03-’04.

SERIES NOTEBOOK:
This series marks the third time in AHL history (Rochester-Adirondack in 1988, Binghamton-New Haven in 1987) that two teams with at least 95 points each have met in the first round of the Calder Cup Playoffs… The Griffins and Wolves are meeting for the third straight postseason; Chicago won in 2002, while Grand Rapids prevailed last year… The Wolves led the AHL with 26 home wins in 2003-04, and won seven straight overall before a season-ending loss to Milwaukee… The Griffins lost five of their last eight at Van Andel Arena after a 16-game home unbeaten streak… Grand Rapids’ Michel Picard and Jeff Nelson were teammates on Portland’s Calder Cup championship team 10 years ago… Rookie Karl Stewart led Chicago in both plus/minus (plus-24) and penalty minutes (186) in the regular season.
