Ducks add AHL All-Star Guhle

The Anaheim Ducks have acquired defenseman Brendan Guhle and a first-round pick in the 2019 NHL Draft from the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for defenseman Brandon Montour.

Guhle, 21, has five goals and 22 assists for 27 points in 50 games with the AHL’s Rochester Americans this season. He also represented the Amerks at the 2019 AHL All-Star Classic last month.

A native of Edmonton, Alta., Guhle notched 26 points in 50 games as a rookie last season. Including two brief appearances in 2015-16 and 2016-17, he has 15 goals and 44 assists for 59 points in 112 career AHL contests.

A second-round choice by Buffalo (51st overall) in the 2015 NHL Draft, Guhle has collected five assists in 23 career NHL games with the Sabres. He has skated in two matches with Buffalo in 2018-19.

Montour, 24, was an AHL All-Star in 2016 and 2017, and was named to the league’s All-Rookie Team and First All-Star Team in 2015-16. He has 16 goals and 47 assists in 169 NHL games with Anaheim.
