Ellison’s hat trick ends Phantoms skid

Matt Ellison scored his first three goals in a Phantoms uniform Sunday to help end a five game Philadelphia slide with a 4-2 win over Lowell at the Wachovia Spectrum in front of 8,045 fans.

Ellison finished off his hat trick in style with a shorthanded breakaway goal with 4:07 seconds left in the third period.

All three of Ellison’s goals were assisted by John Slaney, who now has 300 career American Hockey League assists. Slaney has achieved this mark just a little more than a week after he scored his 454th point of his career, breaking the all-time mark for points by a defenseman. Stefan Ruzicka also had three assists on the night.

Keith Aucoin and Mike Zigomanis scored the goals for Lowell in the losing effort.
