Eriksson, Polak rejoin Stars

The Iowa Stars today announced that the parent Dallas Stars have loaned left wing Loui Eriksson and right wing Vojtech Polak to the AHL club.

The Swedish-born Eriksson joins Iowa after making his National Hockey League debut on Wednesday night at Colorado, when he scored the game-tying goal at 1:56 of the third period against Avalanche goalie Jose Theodore.

Drafted by Dallas in the second round (33rd overall) of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, Eriksson paced all Iowa skaters with 31 goals last season.  Named the Rbk Hockey/AHL Rookie of the Month for March, he finished 10th among AHL rookies in scoring (60 points) and fifth in goals in 2005-06. The 21-year-old Eriksson also added two goals and five assists in seven Calder Cup Playoff contests.

Polak, also 21, skated in 60 games for Iowa last season, his first in North America, and tallied 12 goals and 22 assists for 34 points. He also appeared in three NHL matches with Dallas.

Polak was also a second-round pick by the Stars in 2003 (36th overall).
