Falcons soar with five-goal rally

Adam Henrich scored 2:58 into overtime as Springfield scored five unanswered goals to stun Portland, 6-5, in AHL action on Friday night.

The Falcons trailed 5-1 late in the second period and seemed on their way to an eighth straight game without a win when the comeback began.

After Evgeni Artukhin cut into the deficit late in the second, Shane Willis and Jarrod Skalde made it 5-4 by the 2:02 mark of the third. Willis then evened the score with just 13 seconds left in regulation.

Henrich’s winner came on a power play after Shaone Morrisonn was whistled for tripping in OT.

Darren Reid recorded three assists for the Falcons. Morrisonn scored twice and Brian Sutherby had three assists for the Pirates.
