First two Comets games sold out

The Utica Comets announced today that their first two home games of the 2016-17 season at the Utica Memorial Auditorium are sold out.

The Comets open their home schedule on Oct. 26 vs. Binghamton before hosting Providence on Oct. 28. Those two games will bring the team’s sellout streak to 57 consecutive games (including 42 in the regular season and 15 in the playoffs).

Last year, all 40 games at the Aud (38 regular season, two playoffs) were played before capacity crowds. In 2014-15, the Comets sold out their final two regular-season games before playing to 13 capacity crowds on their run to the Calder Cup Finals.

The St. John’s IceCaps hold the AHL record for consecutive regular-season sellouts (120), set from Oct. 14, 2011, to Oct. 26, 2014.
