Flames acquire MacDermid

The Calgary Flames announced today that they have acquired left wing Lane MacDermid from the Dallas Stars in exchange for Calgary’s sixth-round pick in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.

Calgary will be assigning MacDermid to the AHL’s Abbotsford Heat.

MacDermid, originally a fourth-round pick by the Boston Bruins, has played six games with Dallas this season and picked up a pair of assists along with five penalty minutes and a plus-2 rating.

In 20 career NHL games, he has scored two goals and two assists for four points and 29 penalty minutes split between Boston and Dallas.

MacDermid, 24, played 249 AHL games with Providence from 2009-13, totaling 17 goals, 29 assists and 516 penalty minutes.
